Are You the Creator Or the Victim of Your Reality?
Each and every day that you wake up if you could decide how you wanted to feel what would that be?
Well after some thought I'm sure that you would come up with some or all of the following: at peace, calm, happy, contented, joyful, free, relaxed, healthy, light, care free, playful, grounded, present, energized, enthusiastic about life, hopeful, optimistic, in the moment, creative, fulfilled and so on.
Is this how you feel most or all of the time? If so then I congratulate you on your commitment to preserve and honor your deeply held desire for a life that truly nurtures you.
If not, I ask you to contemplate the impediments that block you from feeling the way you want. Isn't such contemplation worth some of your time? After all isn't your desire for a joyful and peaceful life the reason that you spend most of your life energy each day trying to achieve it?
So all I'm asking you to do is stop and reconsider your strategy from a fresh perspective, that's all.
What are those impediments?
Well you might say that it has to do with the fact that your reality is not co-operating with you and your needs. Well that may be true but why is that?
Well again you might retort that "I have no control over what my reality dishes out to me."
If that is the case then what you are saying is that you live, or as I might put it, are "choosing" to live in a reality that is un-supportive and hostile to you.
You might argue the point about it being "a choice" in which case you would only be trying to justify your role as a victim in it. Does that feel in anyway empowering to you? Highly unlikely.
Did you know that your so-called reality is largely a construct of the beliefs that you carry within you about it? In other words you carry the "template" for your "reality" right inside your mind/body.
What's more this template is accessible and easily changed. By doing so you change the very nature of the "external" reality that you live in. So in this light this makes you the "creator" of your "external" perceived and experienced reality.
So my question to you now is this:
"How useful is to you to remain in denial about your role as the creator of your reality?"
Well you might say that you are not in denial, rather that this is untrue. Well I might say that that is what I call "denial"!
Let me show you what I mean.
Some might argue that the usefulness of thinking that one is not the creator of one's own reality is:
1. So that you don't have to take responsibility for what happens to you, so that,
2. You can remain blameless, so that,
3. You can breath a sigh of relief, be and feel in the clear, feel calm and relaxed, feel immune and resilient, so that,
4. You can feel happy, content, peaceful, joyful and stress free.
So in summary what is being said is that:
(A) The belief that one is not the creator of one's reality makes one feel happy, content, peaceful, joyful and stress free.
Now if that were true then you wouldn't need to expend all of your life energy each and every day attempting to create this kind of experience would you?
So clearly (A) is false!
If you see that then please just admit that to yourself right now.
Then notice how you feel.
You might now feel more aware of the role you play with each and every thought in the creation of your reality.
