Avoiding Menopausal Weight Gain

Weight gain during and after menopause is common and can have significant health consequences.
The Mayo Clinic says women can help avoid menopausal weight gain by:
  • Getting plenty of exercise, incorporating both strength training and aerobic exercise into the daily workout routine.
  • Cutting down on calories by eating lean proteins, and more fruit, vegetables and whole grains.
  • Getting support from loved ones and friends.
  • Finding fun ways to be healthier, such as by taking a daily walk or yoga class, eating fresh fruit more often, or by sharing a restaurant entree with a friend.
