Avoid Road Distractions

Driving while distracted is dangerous to you, other drivers and passengers.
The Governors Highway Safety Association recommends:
  • Turn your cell phone off or silence it, then place it out of reach before you begin driving. Leave a message on your phone that you will return calls when you reach your destination. If you must make a call, pull over.
  • Never text and drive. If necessary, ask a passenger to send a text or place a call for you.
  • If you must enter an address in your GPS, do so before you begin driving.
  • Make sure pets are secured while you drive.
  • If you must tend to children, pull over.
  • Become familiar with the laws in your area on distracted driving. Always stay focused on driving. Avoid eating, drinking and other activities that draw your attention from the road.
