WHEN FAT ATTACKS

While the fat inside arteries has long worried cardiologists, the lard on the outside is now raising eyebrows too. A University of Cincinnati study found that perivascular fat encasing your blood vessels may predispose you to heart disease. Evolutionarily, this fat may have helped fight infection, because it secrtes compounds that cause an inflammation, which is the first line to fight an infection. So, in this situation, it goes from protecting us to cause vascular disease. There are many reasons for this, but blame the Western diet and the sedentary lifestyle, which may make perivascular fat turn on us and release high levels of inflammatory compounds. My advice is to exercise, of course, and do not let cheat days turn into cheat weeks or cheat months,so exercise regularly, avoid junk foods and fast food restaurants. prepared good salads, eat grilled fishes and poultry and read one of my previous articles entitled "Mediterranean Diets".
