Health Tip: Mental Status Affects Your Driving
Your emotions can affect anything you do, including driving. So, experts say if you're very upset or angry about something, pull over until you've calmed down.
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV.org) offers these suggestions for keep emotions in check while driving:
1. If you become upset or angry, find a safe spot where you can pull over and compose yourself.
2. If you feel very worried, depressed or thinking too much about a problem, try to keep it out of your mind until you've left the car.
3. To avoid feeling rushed or impatient, leave with a little extra time to get to your destination.
4. Listen to music to help take your mind off your emotions.
