The U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute mentions these potential side effects of sleep deprivation:
1. Difficulty making decisions.
2. Difficulty with problem-solving.
3. Difficulty adapting to significant change.
4. Difficulty controlling emotions and behavior.
5. Increased risk of depression, suicide or engaging in risky behavior.
