NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS OF ANTIDEPRESSANTS

THE PILL THAT KILLS YOUR SEX DRIVE

ANTIDEPRESSANTS ARE EVERYWHERE. SO THEIR DIRE EFFECTS ON LOVE AND SEX. ISN'T THAT DEPRESSING?

A patient of mine told me that she did not know what caused her relationship to end sometime ago. However, what she knows now is that, overtime her physical desire for the man she loved began to wither, even though she loved him deeply.

As she pointed out, "sex inside a stable relationship is sometimes the glue that holds people together." She also admits that the flame could have gone out on its own.

But there is another reason the love affair may have hit the skids, says the 34-year-old, and it doesn't sit quite well. Its fate could have been sealed by a prescription medication she never really needed in the first place.

Then, she came to me for medical guidance.

I told her simple and direct - EXERCISE IS THE BEST MEDICINE.

Science shows that the biggest predictor of premature death isn't smoking, drinking, depression or obesity, but LOW FITNESS.

That means no matter how much yo weigh, or how bad your habits are, the single best thing you can do for your health is get up and move.

With a head-to-toe examination of human body, I say exercise and stay fit physically and mentally.

My patient told me that she had gone to the clinic and claimed anxiety and stress, and the first thing she remembers is that she went home with a prescription for antidepressants.

She told me the drug erased her anxieties during the day, but jumpstarted them in bed.

Those are well-known side effects, but it turns out that delayed orgasm and losing that itchy are only two of the many ways antidepressants can handicap romance.

These drugs do their work in the brain, which is why they can influence not just erections but also affection, connection, love and attachment. That can leave you wondering if your's lover's indifference derives from her heart, her head, her medicine, or a jumble of all three.

So before, you decide to take these prescriptions, evaluate your needs, discuss and engage with your doctor about an exercise alternative and other ways to control your anxieties and or depression more naturally!
