Telepathy

Telepathy, from the ancient Greek, tele meaning 'distant' and pathy meaning 'feeling, perception or experience', is the transmission of information from one person to another without using any sensory channels or physical interaction.

Telepathy is a term coined in 1882 by Fredric W.H. Myers, a classical scholar and founder of the Society For Physical Research.

There is no actual evidence that supports that telepathy is a real phenomenon. Considering the fact that many psychics claim to have telepathy, telepathy is more common in modern fiction and science fiction.

The original concept of telepathy dates back to the 19th Century in Western civilization. In the 19th Century, Washington Irving Bishop, a magician, would perform 'thought reading' demonstrations. However, he later claimed to not have such supernatural powers.

Another magician who claimed to be a 'thought reader' was Stuart Cumberland. He claimed that he was famous for identifying hidden objects while blindfolded. Just like Bishop, Cumberland later revealed that he didn't have supernatural powers either.

In the parapsychology field, telepathy is considered to be a form of ESP, or Extrasensory perception.

There are several types of telepathy, including:

Latent telepathy- this is thought to be the transfer of information with a time lag between transmission and reception.

Retrocognitive, precognitive and intuitive telepathy- this is thought to be the transfer of information about the past, present or future state from one mind to another.

Emotive telepathy- this is thought to be a remote influence, or emotional transfer, through altered states.

Superconscious telepathy- this is thought to be the tapping into the superconscious to collect wisdom for knowledge.

What do you believe? Is telepathy real and are psychics who claim to have telepathy telling the truth? Or is telepathy not real and are psychics lying about having such an ability?

Let me know what you think and write me here on comments.
