Food and small objects including toys are prime choking hazards for young children. It's important to know the warning signs of a choking child so you can take quick action.
The National Safety Council says a choking child may:
- Have difficulty breathing.
- Cough or cry weakly.
- Have a bluish tint to the skin.
- Lapse into unconsciousness and be unable to signal that he or she is choking.
- Make a high-pitched noise while inhaling.
