6 Things That Happen When You Don't Have a Good Night's Sleep

There is nothing worse than waking up on a Monday morning and knowing you have to head to work, but this is made even worse if you have not had a good night sleep. And there are multiple factors that could be contributing to your poor quality of sleep. Here are some of the things that happen when you're not getting enough sleep.

You feel groggy in the morning and a cup of coffee won’t help fight the feeling. You may keep drinking caffeine to try and give you a boost, and this again has an adverse effect because it can disrupt your sleep pattern.
You find it impossible to make it through the day without an afternoon nap when it hits around 3 or 4 p.m. and you feel you just can’t keep your eyes open anymore and have to have a nap, this could be a sign that you had inadequate sleep the night before. Another reason this is not a good idea is that it can also disrupt your sleep cycle so that in the evening you find yourself really struggling to fall asleep.
You have an insatiable hunger. Apparently, those who didn’t have a good night sleep need to consume more calories than those who did. And those who constantly have less than six hours of good sleep can actually gain weight. The reason for this, according to Real Simple, is that the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort study revealed that inadequate sleep results in lower levels of the appetite-suppressing hormone leptin being produced.
You’re feeling grumpy and irritated with everyone: if you’re usually a pretty pleasant person to be around but suddenly start snapping at everyone and feeling irritable, it could be because you have not had enough sleep. One of the short-term side effects of lack of sleep is a change in mood.
You can’t remember. According to Health, when you’re tired, you’re unable to pay attention to what is happening, and this affects your memory.
You look tired. One of the most obvious symptoms when it comes to a lack of sleep is that you actually look as though you haven’t rested. These include dark circles under the eyes, red eyes, puffiness, and even breakouts. Sleep deprivation can also affect your immune system.
