Next Time You Travel - Score A Hotel Room Upgrade
Remember always that chain hotels want you to keep coming back to their locations, so it's the front desk's job to make you as happy as possible. That means UPGRADING - IF YOU ASK NICELY!
1. First, learn the lingo - Before arriving look at the hotel website and check the names of the high end rooms, such as Presidential suite, Honeymoon suite, etc. Then upon arrival at the hotel front desk, mention that you would like to check the other room out. Mention that you want to come back many times and recommend friends, so if there is an availability, the front desk could give you an upgrade with no price increase. Just ask nicely - it dos not hurt by asking right!
2. Be Always Specific - Instead of asking for a "better" room, ask for a room with a nice view, such as a pool view, or an ocean view. If the front desk staff says there none available, try later on, or ask whether would be possible the next day. This tactics always helps, believe me, and be always nice.
3. Make friends with the front desk staff - mention that this is a special occasion, that it is your companion's birthday, or a special "honeymoon". This also works.
4. Point out Mistakes - hotels do wish to accommodate if they screwed up. Mention that something was wrong with your room, or the room floor, like if the air conditioning is not working, or the TV is malfunctioning, or that the bathroom is not well lit. Then ask to me moved to a nicer room.
5. Negotiate options - if there are no other rooms, ask for a night perk, better saying, ask for a free night, without charges, or ask for a free-room service with your favorite drink or meal. I am sure the hotel staff will do all possible to make all necessary accommodations.
